So how level is “level”?

Less than a week to go until the arrival of Sally’s birthday shed! For the last few weeks we have been laying slabs down ready for the new building. Well, when I say “laying slabs down” it would be more accurate to say “laying slabs down, standing on them to see if they wobble, finding that they do, lifting them again, adjusting the soil underneath, laying them back down, checking for wobble, checking for whether its level or not, lifting it again, adjusting the soil underneath, laying it back down, using a spirit level, finding that its level in itself but not in relation to the one next to it, getting cold and bored and going home for a cup of tea, with the intention of coming back tomorrow”.

And repeat…

FINALLY we think it is level (enough – after all surely a heavy shed will level them itself a bit? They’re standing on mud after all!) and now we just need to double check the dimensions – a 7′ x 5′ shed needs a 6’9″ x 4’9″ base…

that bits not level…
